Right into the heart
For OPEN art 2018, we are showing an extensive exhibition with works by Jim Dine.
The american artist is considered one of the foremost protagonists of American Pop Art. He works in numerous genres, including painting, graphic work and sculpture, photography, poetry and theatre. He is known for his ability to use Pop Art with an emotionally charged, expressive language. A repertoire of recurring subjects such as hearts, Venus and bathrobes can be found throughout his oeuvre.
His work was shown at the Venice Biennale in 1964 and three times at the documenta in Kassel (1967, 1972 and 1977). In 1970 the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York showed a major retrospective of his work and in 1978 a retrospective of his etchings was presented at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
