LEEAHN has prepared the special exhibition of the gallery's collection and masterworks of exhibiting artists to celebrate the opening of Seoul space and introduce its past six years.

Director Hye-Ryung Ahn has shown her passion in art as a collector since mid 80's. She then acquired Ci-gong gallery, who served as a center of contemporary art galleries from 1993 to 2005, and reopened the space in spring, 2007 with a name LEEAHN. There has been about 70 exhibitions since its open and active participation in about 20 domestic and international art fairs. LEEAHN Changwon was opened in October, 2007, and LEEAHN Seoul on road on November, 2009.

The special exhibition of LEEAHN Gallery 6th anniversary will introduce its signature collection and works of past exhibiting artists and the valuable collection of Leeahn Gallery, such as Andy Warhol, Nam June Paik, Franz West, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, and Cindy Sherman. It will be a good opportunity to meet some famous works again, such as Andy Warhol's R.C. Gorman, 1979, one of the '79 portrait series, and Damien Hirst's medicine cabinet Day by Day, 2003, since its display in 2007 and 2009 exhibitions. It will be the first time for some works to be shown to audience, like the installation of Daniel Buren using a mirror, painting of John Wesley, and bronze of KiKi Smith. LEEAHN feels grateful and expect support and attention from many of those, who understands our passion and growth in past six years, to become a gallery constantly aiming for something new.

리안갤러리는 개관6주년과 리안갤러리 서울관 개관을 기념하기 위하여 지난 6년간 리안갤러리에서 소개하고 함께 해온 작가들의 대표작과 리안갤러리 소장 작품을 한자리에서 볼 수 있는 특별전을 마련하였습니다.

80년대 중반부터 미술컬렉터로 활동하며 미술에 대한 열정을 키워 온 안혜령 대표는 1993년부터 2005년까지 현대미술갤러리로 중심적인 역할을 하였던 시공갤러리를 인수하여 2007년 봄, 리안갤러리를 개관하였습니다. 개관 이후 현재까지 70여 회의 전시를 개최하였고, 20여 회 국내/해외 아트페어에 참여하며 활발한 활동을 펼쳐왔습니다. 2007년10월 리안갤러리 창원을 개관하였고, 2009년 11월 리안갤러리 서울_on road 공간을 마련하였습니다. 

리안갤러리 개관 6주년 기념전에는 앤디 워홀, 백남준, 데미안 허스트, 키키 스미스, 존 웨슬리, 빌 비올라, 다니엘 뷰렌, 탐 웨슬만, 프란츠 웨스트, 팀 노블 & 수 웹스터, 신디 셔먼 등 리안갤러리 전시에서 소개하였던 작가와 갤러리 소장 작품을 함께 소개하는 자리를 마련하였습니다. 특히 앤디 워홀의 79년 인물 초상 시리즈_R.C. Gorman, 1979, 데미안 허스트의 약장_Day by Day, 2003 등은 지난 2007년과 2009년 전시 이후 다시 만나 보실 수 있는 기회가 될 것이며, 다니엘 뷰렌의 거울을 소재로 한 벽면 설치 작품, 존 웨슬리의 회화작품 그리고 키키 스미스의 브론즈 조각 작품은 이번 전시를 통해 처음 관객에게 소개되는 작품들로 관람객들에게 매우 소중한 기회가 될 것이라 기대합니다. 6년의 시간을 끊임없이 새로움을 추구하며 미술에 대한 열정을 나누어 온 리안갤러리의 성장과 도전에 더 많은 분들의 관심과 응원을 기대합니다.
