That using language has become the method of artistic expression, and that in art the text has been used as symbolic language that not only makes a delivery of one meaning but also stimulates associations of image occurred at the same time as the beginning of concept art. For the artist Aldo Chaparro (1965 ~) who uses language as a promise or image, direct presentation of language can be said to be the concept and artistic form that explain a part and the whole of art of him. For him, use of text makes viewers associate image with it and makes it function as a medium that recollects memory and at the same time it is put in front of us as complete artwork which has formal beauty. Various controversies which became social issues, arguments of them only which attract attention of people and ironic joke are left as a medium of new interpretation and possibility of another different dispute by the artist. The artist's text sculpture erected like monument in exhibition room; Richard Prince's Brookeshields and Maurizio Cattelan's Stephanie Seymour are used as one symbolic language which symbolizes social issues which drew attention of the town. 

Use of clear text is used as apparatus which reminds of customary meaning it has and restores the memory; and text placed in new space time lets to experiment on another different interpretation and associations of images. The artist Aldo Chaparro who tests his art territory on the boundary between design and pure art formally and extend it is the concept artist who draws the boundary and limit which distinguished the concept of pure art from that of design since 20th century to his art and rather expands them more and develops them as major concept of job. The job of the artist which is positioned between pure art and functionalism art is satisfying the two purposes completion of symbolic image and linguistic presentation with the use of simple and concise literary style and color. The artist who quotes text or a phrase extracted from mass media, and the work of other artists or borrows a passage of lyrics in a popular song enables new interpretation and giving meaning by combination and adoption out of existing context of well-known social issues or sentences. 

Wit and variety are the important concept included in the work of the artist Aldo Chaparro. 
The artist's language and text used like creating a scene hidden in language is like looking one performance that gets out of the shape and attempts direct statement. Using neon or text sculpture installed on the wall surface get out of the customary context where they are put and make spectators have experience of newly finding personal experience and point of view in the work of the artist and through this the artist invites the time and hour of today continuously to his world of art. The stainless steel sculpture which is one of the recent series of the author was made by artist's direct body performance and strength and it is the work which shows the motion of body and strength of force and process of production like a documentary. This series work which did not consider common performance art, however, was completed as a result which proves physical labor and mental conflict required from the art creator and is presented before us.  

Aldo Chaparro who continues his art experiment drawing the contemporary culture and art, social rumor and issue into the field of art, was born in Lima Peru in 1965 and immigrated to Mexico in the early 1980's and is busily active mainly in Mexico and New York. He has been participating in Art Basel Swiss and Art Basel Miami Beach since 2007 and he has hold private exhibitions and group exhibitions in Germany, France, the UK and Dubai not to mention in Mexico.

언어의 사용이 예술표현의 방법이 되어 온 것, 미술에 있어 텍스트가 하나의 의미 전달 뿐 아니라 이미지의 연상작용을 일으키는 기호언어로 사용된 것은 개념미술의 시작과 때를 같이 한다. 언어가 하나의 약속으로 혹은 이미지로 사용되는 알도 차파로 (Aldo Chaparro, 1965 ~ ) 작가에게 있어 언어의 직접적인 제시는 자신의 예술의 일부이자 전부를 설명하는 개념이자 예술형식이라 할 수 있다. 그에게 텍스트의 사용은 보는 이로 하여금 이미지를 연상케 하고, 기억을 떠올리게 하는 하나의 매개로 기능하게 하며 동시에 형식적인 아름다움을 갖춘 완성된 예술작품으로 우리 앞에 놓여진다. 사회적 이슈가 되었던 갖가지 논쟁, 사람들의 관심을 끄는 그들만의 싸움 그리고 반어적 농담은 작가에 의해 새로운 해석의 매개로, 또 다른 논쟁의 가능성으로 남겨진다. 전시장에 마치 기념비처럼 세워져 있는 작가의 텍스트 조각; 리차드 프린스의 브룩쉴즈(Richard Prince's Brookeshields), 마우리치오 카텔란의 스테판 세이모어(Maurizio Cattelan's Stephanie Seymour)는 세간의 주목을 받았던 사회적 이슈를 상징하는 하나의 기호언어로 사용되고 있다. 

명료한 텍스트의 사용은 이것이 갖는 관습적 의미를 상기시키고 기억을 회복하는 장치로 사용되며, 새로운 시공간에 놓여진 텍스트는 또 다른 해석과 이미지의 연상을 실험하게 한다. 형식적으로 디자인과 순수예술의 경계 위에서 자신의 예술영역을 실험하고 또 확장시키고 있는 작가, 알도 차파로 (Aldo Chaparro) 는 20세기 이후 순수예술과 디자인의 개념을 구분하였던 그 경계와 제한을 자신의 예술로 끌어들여 오히려 더욱 확장시키며 작업의 주요한 개념으로 발전시키고 있는 개념미술가이다. 순수예술과 기능주의 예술 사이에 위치하는 작가의 작업은 단순하고 간결한 문체와 색채의 사용으로 상징적 이미지의 완성과 언어적 제시라는 두 가지 목적을 충족시키고 있다. 매스미디어로부터 추출한 텍스트 또는 하나의 글귀, 다른 작가의 작품을 인용하거나 대중가요 속 가사 한 구절을 빌려오는 작가는 잘 알려진 사회적 이슈 또는 문장을 기존의 문맥을 벗어난 조합과 차용으로 새로운 해석과 의미부여를 가능하게 한다. 

위트와 다양성은 알도 차파로(Aldo Chaparro) 작가의 작업속에 내포되어 있는 중요한 개념이다. 언어 속에 숨어있는 하나의 장면을 창조해 내듯 사용되는 작가의 언어와 문자는 형상을 벗고 직접적인 발언을 시도하는 하나의 퍼포먼스를 보는 듯 하다. 네온을 사용하거나 또는 벽면에 설치되는 텍스트 조각 등은 그것이 놓여지는 관습적 문맥에서 벗어나 관객의 개인적인 경험과 시각을 작가의 작업 속에서 새롭게 찾는 경험을 갖게 하고 이를 통해 작가는 오늘의 시간과 시각을 끊임없이 자신의 예술세계로 불러들인다. 작가의 최근 시리즈인 스테인레스 스틸 조각은 직접적인 작가의 몸의 행위와 힘에 의해 만들어진 것으로 몸의 움직임과 힘의 강도 그리고 제작의 과정을 하나의 기록물처럼 보여 주는 작품이다. 흔한 행위예술을 고려하지 않은 이 시리즈 작품은 그러나 예술창작자로부터 요구되는 육체적 노동과 정신적 갈등을 입증하는 하나의 결과물로 완성되어 우리 앞에 제시된다. 

동시대 문화와 예술, 사회적 루머와 이슈를 예술의 장으로 끌어들이며 자신의 예술실험을 이어가고 있는 알도 차파로 (Aldo Chaparro) 는 1965년 페루 리마에서 태어났으며 1980년대 초 멕시코로 이주하여 멕시코와 뉴욕을 중심으로 활발히 활동하고 있다. 2007년부터 아트바젤 (Art Basel) 스위스 및 마이애미 (Art Basel Miami Beach) 에 참가하고 있으며 멕시코는 물론 독일, 프랑스, 영국, 두바이 등에서 개인전과 단체전을 열어오고 있다.
